Gothic Tattoos

Gothic tattoos are a very popular, yet often misunderstood type of tattoo. They can come in many shapes, sizes, and forms. Sometimes Gothic tattoos can take on various meanings in the same tattoo. These tattoos are usually very dark, and almost never include color of any kind unless it is read. Some common scenes that are often depicted in Gothic tattoos include battle scenes. The scenes may include one individual fighting off a horde of mythical monsters, or may be as simple as a Gothic symbol. Gothic tattoos are usually very intricately designed, and usually have quite a bit of detail throughout the design.

Dragons are also commonly featured in Gothic tattoos. However, these dragons are very unlike the Chinese culture’s version of the dragon. While the Chinese culture’s version of the dragon usually symbolizes an all knowing being, the Gothic version of the dragon that is often displayed in tattoos is usually a much more vicious creature. The dragon that often appears in Gothic flavored folklore is very similar to the dragon that filled the western European folklore throughout recent years.

Because Gothic tattoos are usually small (yet intricate) they can be placed a number of places. These places include the neck, arm, feet, leg, forearm, or really anywhere on the body that has enough space for a fairly intricate design. The cross is also often featured in Gothic tattoos, and is usually surrounded by a number of different designs.

One type of Gothic tattoo that people commonly receive is the Gothic style portrait tattoo. These tattoos usually feature the face of an individual (can be a women or a man, but is usually a women). This portrait can be anyone, and is not limited to the individual who is wearing the tattoo. These tattoos are usually completely black and white and will feature some feature that is considered to be quite dark by the general public. This may be a head made out of snakes, or a face that is just a skeleton.

Gothic tattoos don’t necessarily have to represent anything. In fact, many people make up their own definitions for what their tattoos symbolize. They are fairly left up to interpretation. Aside from the intricate style of Gothic tattoos, these types of tattoos can also commonly be quite simple as well. The more simple the tattoo is, the easier it is for the artist to tattoo it in a spot that does not allow much moving room.

If you are considering tattoo a Gothic style tattoo on yourself, you may want to consider having the design professionally drawn beforehand. Since the vast majority of Gothic tattoo designs are very intricate and require a fair amount of design work, you should ensure that the tattoo is exactly what you are looking for prior to walking into the tattoo parlor. This will help to ensure that you do not receive something that you are not looking for and are able to make the changes that you would like to see made prior to making any commitments.
